When asking about a trade idea, please provide enough details so we can give you the most relevant and helpful answer.
Simply asking, "What do you think about XYZ?" doesn't tell us your intent.
To get the best response, clarify:
- Are you considering a directional or non-directional strategy?
- What instrument do you want to trade? (Stock, index, or options?)
If Directional:
- Do you want to trade the underlying stock/index or use options?
- If you use options, are you considering:
- Buying a call (bullish) or put (bearish)?
- A debit spread?
- What expiration timeframe are you considering?
Example:
"I think XYZ is a good candidate for a put spread. What strikes and expiration would you suggest?"
If Non-Directional:
- Are you considering a credit spread?
- If so, what expiration timeframe? Today (0DTE), end of the week, two weeks, or longer?
- Are you considering a naked put or call?
- Do you own the stock and want to sell a covered call?
Example:
"I believe XYZ will stay within a range. Would a credit spread make sense? What strikes and expiration would you use?"
If a Swing or Day Trade:
- If a swing trade, do you believe XYZ has a setup for a move higher or lower?
- If a day trade, what timeframe are you using?
Example:
"I believe XYZ is setting up for a swing trade higher. Do you agree with the setup?"
"For a day trade, I think XYZ will go lower. I’m using the 15-minute chart—does this align with your analysis?"
